When you look into the mirror, you do not see what others see. Indeed, others do not always agree in their perception of you.
In the same way, two different photographers will capture a different perception of you. Your natural texture, your facial shape, your hairstyle, etc., will all be noticed; but will the real you be noticed?
I suspect that the real you is hidden somewhere that the entire electromagnetic spectrum is unable to reveal – unless you let yourself go.
What if smiling isn’t the light in you right now? What if standing up straight isn’t in you right now? What if it is? Instead of wondering in what season you should have photos taken, what if you asked yourself in what season you currently exist? What does that look like? What does that feel like?
What does that feel like?
I go through pictures of myself and my family and I remember how it FELT to live during those times. No matter how beautiful my wife looks, I am able to FEEL what those times were like – whether those times were easy or difficult.
Now, that’s interesting.
I think that’s the real light of character of a photograph… the season of your life.
Let’s capture you in every season so that you’re able to remember.
